3  Cancer rate (per 1,000 examinations) = The number of cancers among 1,000 screening mammography examinations.

4  Cancer detection rate (per 1,000 examinations) = The number of cancers with a positive initial interpretation (BI-RADS category 0, 4, or 5; Note: 3 with a recommendation for immediate follow-up was recoded as 0) among 1,000 screening mammography examinations.
